Raja 2009
New Year’s in Raja. That’s something everyone should experience at least once in their lives. When we arrived on Sunday everything was nice and warm…until we started turning on the lights and everything else. The temperature just dropped and it got colder and colder inside. We couldn’t understand what was wrong, and I think I re-configured every setting in the (apparently not so) high-tech heating system three times! After some extensive mind-scratching, Johan figured out that it was the ampere-guard effectively doing its job, shutting off electricity to the radiators as soon as we were closing in to 20A. Apparently, we’re using more juice than we thought! Now that we’ve turned off the heating wires for the water pipes and the big water heater, it’s (mostly) working nice and fine.
Outside temperature is around -25 degrees Celsius (cold) which is the temperature around where you barely can take your gloves off to take a picture. I haven’t dared to take my iPhone with me outside, I think the crack in the front glass is going to expand and shatter even more. Bark, who is usually loving the snow, also seem a bit taken by the cold. He’s not exacly enthusiastic to go outside to do his business, constantly skipping on three legs.
The snowmobiles are out and after some engine resuscitation they’re all running fine. Melker’s earlier love-hate relationship to snowmobiles is now a love-love relationship. He loves riding in front and he knows exactly which snowmobile is Grandma’s and Grandpa’s. The only problem with riding the snowmobiles is the headwind gained when going to fast. If your face isn’t completely covered, you’ll know when you get inside and your cheek starts falling apart.
I’ve added a new picture gallery in my “Photos” section, be sure to check them out. Here’s a preview:
